S AFRICA: Pick n Pay testing small-scale format

Pick n Pay, the South African retailer, has started testing a little arrangement store idea, called Daily, in a bid to court rural comfort customers and rival any semblance of Spar and Woolworths.

The organization opened South Africa Seasonings, Dressings and Sauces Market first accommodation style outlet in Fairland, Johannesburg, last week (23 September).

"It is too early to say how the new arrangement is performing, however early signs are positive," a representative for the retailer told just-food.

The arrangement will have a normal of 850 square meters of selling space and is being introduced as a crossover of comfort and grocery store shopping.

While the diversified Daily organization is still in the test stage, Pick 'n' Pay told just-food that it is focused on developing its portion of the quickly developing accommodation section.
