Researchers at Ohio State University in the US have reported that a vitamin-D blood test can aid in the fast and accurate diagnosis of bipolar disorder in kids.

The team reached the resolution after finding that the levels of a vitamin-D-associated binding protein are higher in youngsters with bipolar disorder than kids without it.

This was seen in a concentrate in 12 youngsters with bipolar disorder, 11 experiencing major burdensome disorder and 13 without such disorders.

Lead author of the research, Ouliana Ziouzenkova, thinks finding a reliable blood marker can enhance care and limit the flow ten-year average lag time from beginning to diagnosis of the condition.

"The levels of a vitamin-D-associated Penicillin Binding Protein 2 drugs development market are higher in kids with bipolar disorder than youngsters without it."

The researchers chose to analyze the vitamin-D binding protein based on its potential contribution in brain inflammation. They saw that the supplement form of the vitamin has less diagnostic power than the binding protein.

The significance of this biomarker is yet to be validated and the team is planning for a greater report to assess the blood that has already been obtained from both pediatric and adult patients.

Ziouzenkova said: "We want to assist psychiatrists and different doctors with diagnosing kids early and accurately. When bipolar disorder advances, it is more challenging to treat."

The researcher further noticed endless supply of the discoveries, development of a blood test will be straightforward and relatively cheap.
