SPAIN/ITALY: Sos buys Friol to lead Italian cooking-oil market

Spanish nutrition type Sos has purchased Italian cooking oil organization Friol from Unilever for EUR33.2m (US$43.79m), just-food has learned.

In an administrative explanation, Madrid-based Sos said the obtaining will empower it "to lead" the Italy cooking-oil market in Italy in the wake of purchasing olive-oil makers Minerva Oli and Carapelli Firenze last year.

With deals of EUR30m in 2006, Friol controls 39% of Italy's broiling oil market, Sos said.

With Friol under the care of its, Sos' Italian establishment anticipates that deals should outperform EUR530m this year.

Sos, which sells Spain's top treat and rice brands Cuetara and Sos, as of late rebuilt its obligation to back future acquisitions.
